Ingredients

  • 2 cup wheat flour
  • 1 cup sugar/jaggery powder
  • 1 cup milk
  • Half cup ghee
  • 2 Cup oil

Steps

  1. Use the same 1 measuring cup for all the ingredients. Start with the wheat flour and dry-mix it with the hot ghee.
  2. Dissolve the sugar in the milk, then add this sweetened milk to the wheat flour to make a dough. Let it rest for 20 minutes before preparing the shankarpali. Form a chapati, half inch in size.
  3. Use a cutter to trim the chapati’s sides, then make shankarpali shapes or use any other shape cutter. Add oil to a kadai and, once it is hot, keep the flame medium to low. Put in the shankarpali and fry until light brown.
  4. Once light brown, remove the shankarpali, allow them to cool and transfer to an airtight container.
