Easy Shimla Mirch Paneer Recipe | Paneer Capsicum Masala Sabji

Ingredients

!for marinating:

  • 200 grams paneer (cubed)
  • ½ tsp chilli powder
  • ¼ tsp turmeric
  • 2 tbsp kasuri methi (crushed)
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 tsp oil

!for sabji:

  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1 onion (finely chopped)
  • ½ tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp chilli powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup tomato puree
  • ½ capsicum (cubed)
  • ¼ cup curd
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tbsp paneer (crumbled)
  • ½ tsp garam masala
  • 2 tbsp coriander (finely chopped)

Method

  1. Firstly, in a boil take 200 grams cubed paneer.
  2. Add ½ tsp chilli powder, ¼ tsp turmeric, 2 tbsp kasuri methi, ½ tsp salt and 2 tsp oil.
  3. Mix gently and marinate for 30 minutes.
  4. Roast the paneer on tawa making sure the paneer is cooked from both sides. Keep aside.
  5. In a large kadai, heat 2 tbsp oil. Add 1 tsp cumin and saute till the cumin turns aromatic.
  6. Add 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste and saute well.
  7. Further, add 1 onion and saute till the onion turns golden brown.
  8. Keeping the flame on low, add ½ tsp turmeric, 1 tsp chilli powder, 1 tsp coriander powder, 1 tsp cumin powder, and 1 tsp salt. Saute until the spices turn aromatic.
  9. Further, add 1 cup tomato puree and cook until the oil separates.
  10. Add in ½ capsicum, cover and cook for 5 minutes or until the capsicum softens.
  11. Now add ¼ cup curd and cook till the oil separates.
  12. Add 1 cup hot water and mix well adjusting the consistency.
  13. Further add roasted paneer, 1 tbsp crumbled paneer, and mix gently.
  14. Cover and simmer for 5 minutes or until the flavors are well absorbed.
  15. add ½ tsp garam masala and 2 tbsp coriander. Mix well.
