Ingredients
- 2 cup peas / matar (soaked/frozen)
- 3 cup water
- 1 tbsp ghee / clarified butter
- 1 tsp mustard
- 1 tsp jeera / cumin
- pinch hing / asafoetida
- few curry leaves
- 1 onion (finely chopped)
- 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
- 2 green chilli (finely chopped)
- 1 tomato (finely chopped)
- ½ tsp garam masala
- ¾ tsp salt
- 2 tbsp coriander (finely chopped)
Method
- firstly, in a blender take 2 cups of soaked peas.
- blend to a coarse paste without adding any water.
- transfer the coarse peas paste to cooker along with 3 cup water.
- pressure cook for 2 whistles on medium flame.
- now in a large kadai heat 1 tbsp ghee and splutter 1 tsp mustard, 1 tsp jeera, pinch hing and few curry leaves.
- now add 1 onion and saute well followed by 1 tsp ginger garlic paste and 2 green chilli.
- also, add 1 tomato and saute till the tomatoes turn soft and mushy.
- further, add ½ tsp garam masala and ¾ tsp salt.
- saute till the spices get cooked well.
- add in cooked peas and mix well.
- boil on medium flame for 2 minutes or until flavours are absorbed.
- now add 2 tbsp coriander leaves and mix well.
- finally, serve matar ki dal recipe with hot steamed rice.
