Ingredients
for makhana bhel:
- 1½ cup phool makhana
- 2 tbsp ghee
- 1 tsp mustard
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp chana dal
- 1 tsp urad dal
- few curry leaves
- pinch hing
- 2 tbsp peanut
- 2 tbsp raisins
- 2 tbsp cashew
- 2 tbsp almonds
- ½ tsp turmeric
- ½ tsp chilli powder
- ½ tsp aamchur
- 1 tsp chaat masala
- ¼ tsp salt
for makhana chaat:
- 1½ cup phool makhana
- ½ tsp chilli powder
- ½ tsp aamchur
- 1 tsp chaat masala
- ¼ tsp salt
- 2 tbsp tomato (chopped)
- 2 tbsp onion (chopped)
- 2 tbsp cucumber (chopped)
- 2 tbsp green chutney
- 2 tbsp tamarind chutney
- 2 tbsp coriander (chopped)
- 2 tbsp peanuts (roasted)
Method
How to make makhana bhel:
- Firstly, dry roast 1½ cup phool makhana on low flame until it turns crunchy. Keep aside.
- In a pan heat 2 tbsp ghee. add 1 tsp mustard, 1 tsp cumin, 1 tsp chana dal, 1 tsp urad dal, few curry leaves and pinch hing.
- Splutter the tempering.
- Also add 2 tbsp peanut, 2 tbsp raisins, 2 tbsp cashew and 2 tbsp almonds.
- Roast on low flame until the nuts turn crunchy.
- Further add ½ tsp turmeric, ½ tsp chilli powder, ½ tsp aamchur, 1 tsp chaat masala and ¼ tsp salt.
- Saute on low flame until the spices turn aromatic.
- Add in roasted makhana and mix well. Mix until the masala is coated well.
- Finally, enjoy Makhana Bhel or store it in an airtight container.
How to make makhana chaat:

- In a bowl take ½ tsp chilli powder, ½ tsp aamchur, 1 tsp chaat masala and ¼ tsp salt. Mix well.
- Also add 2 tbsp tomato, 2 tbsp onion, 2 tbsp cucumber, 2 tbsp green chutney, and 2 tbsp tamarind chutney.
- Mix well making sure everything is well combined.
- Furthermore, add roasted makhana and mix well.
- Add 2 tbsp coriander, and 2 tbsp peanuts. mix well.
- Finally, Makhana Chaat Recipe is ready to enjoy.
