Ingredients

  • 1 cup wheat
  • water (water soaking)
  • 3 tbsp badam / almonds
  • 2 tbsp peanut
  • ¼ cup mishri / rock candy
  • 4 pods cardamom
  • ¾ cup milk powder
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder

Method

  1. firstly, in a large bowl soak 1 cup wheat in water for 12 hours. make sure to rinse the wheat a couple of times before soaking.
  2. after soaking the wheat, drain off the water and tie in a cloth.
  3. rest for 2 days or until the sprouts are formed.
  4. now take the sprouted wheat and roast on low flame.
  5. roast until the wheat turns crisp, removing the moisture from the wheat.
  6. now add 3 tbsp badam, 2 tbsp peanut, and continue to roast.
  7. roast until the nuts turn crisp too.
  8. cool completely, and transfer to the mixer jar.
  9. add ¼ cup mishri, 4 pods cardamom, and grind to a fine powder.
  10. transfer the mixture to the sieve.
  11. add ¾ cup milk powder and sieve using a fine sieve.
  12. mix well combining everything well.
  13. finally, homemade Horlicks are ready to enjoy by mixing them with warm milk.
  14. to prepare chocolate-flavoured horlicks, for 4 tbsp of prepared horlicks, add 1 tbsp cocoa powder.
