Ingredients

  • 4 tsp oil
  • 1 tsp mustard
  • 1 tsp urad dal
  • ½ tsp cumin / jeera
  • few curry leaves
  • 1 dried red chilli
  • 8 whole cashew / kaju
  • ½ onion (finely chopped)
  • 2 green chilli (slit)
  • 1 inch ginger (chopped)
  • 1 tomato (chopped)
  • 2 tbsp carrot (chopped)
  • ¼ potato (chopped)
  • 2 tbsp peas
  • 5 beans (chopped)
  • ¼ tsp turmeric
  • ¾ tsp salt
  • 1 cup bansi rava / broken wheat / dalia / godhuma nooka / samba rava
  • 3 cup water

Method

  1. firstly, in a large kadai heat 4 tsp oil and add 1 tsp mustard, 1 tsp urad dal, ½ tsp cumin, few curry leaves, 1 dried red chilli and 8 whole cashews.
  2. saute and splutter on medium flame.
  3. now add ½ onion, 2 green chilli and 1 inch ginger. saute well.
  4. further add 1 tomato, 2 tbsp carrot, ¼ potato, 2 tbsp peas and 5 beans.
  5. also, add ¼ tsp turmeric and ¾ tsp salt.
  6. cover and cook for 5 minutes.
  7. now add 1 cup broken wheat rava (bansi rava) and roast on low flame for 5 minutes.
  8. pour 3 cup boiling water on roasted rava keeping the flame on low.
  9. cover and cook for 2 minutes on high flame.
  10. finally, serve mixed vegetable dalia upma / broken wheat upma hot along with kara chutney.
