Ingredients

  • 1 cup coconut (fresh / desiccated)
  • 1 tbsp peanuts (roasted)
  • 1 tbsp roasted split gram / putani / dariya
  • 2 petals onion
  • 2 green chilli
  • small piece tamarind
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup water (hot)

for tempering

  • 2 tsp oil
  • 1 tsp mustard
  • 1 red chilli (broken)
  • few curry leaves

Method

  1. firstly, in a blender take 1 cup coconut.
  2. also, add 1 tbsp roasted peanuts and 1 tbsp putani for hotel style texture.
  3. additionally, add 2 petals onion, 2 green chilli, small piece tamarind and ½ tsp salt.
  4. blend to a smooth or coarse paste adding ½ cup water or as required.
  5. now prepare the tempering by heating 2 tsp oil.
  6. once the oil turns hot add 1 tsp mustard, 1 red chilli and few curry leaves.
  7. allow to splutter and pour tempering over chutney.
  8. finally, serve hotel style dosa chutney with dosa or idli.
