Ingredients

  • 2 apples (large [around 1.5 cups grated apples])
  • 1.5 tablespoons ghee (clarified butter)
  • ¼ cup + 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • ¼ + ⅛ teaspoon cinnamon powder
  • ¼ teaspoon cardamom powder
  • ⅛ teaspoon nutmeg powder
  • sliced almonds (to garnish)

Method

  1. Wash the apples and peel them.
  2. Cut into slices and run them into a food processor till the apples are well grind. Few pieces are ok.
  3. In a pan heat ghee on medium heat. Once hot, add the apples.
  4. Cook the apples till all the water is evaporated, this took me around 7-8 minutes.
  5. Now add sugar and mix. Also add cinnamon powder, nutmeg and cardamom powder.
  6. As the sugar melts, the halwa will again become liquidy.
  7. Cook for 5 minutes stirring continuously till all water evaporates.
  8. Garnish with sliced almonds and serve hot.
