Ingredients

  • 1 bunch kale (about 5 cups, 8-10 oz)
  • 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • salt & pepper (to taste)

Method

  1. Firstly wash and clean the kale with water and pat them dry with a paper towel. Cut the leaves from the thick stem and then roughly tear the leaves into bite-sized pieces.
  2. In a medium bowl, drizzle some olive oil on top of the kale. Then add the garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Toss until fully coated.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 375 ° F (190°C). Add the seasoned kale to the air fryer basket and spread them in a single layer (cook in batches if required).
  4. Air fryer them at 375 ° F (190°C) for 4 minutes or until they are crisp and done but not burnt. Shake the basket halfway through.
  5. Crispy Kale Chips are ready (they will crisp up more as they kool).

How to Oven Bake Kale Chips

  1. Preheat the oven to 300°F (148˚C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Spread the seasoned kale evenly in a single layer, ensuring chips don't overlap. Bake at 300˚F for 20-25 minutes, Stirring halfway through till they are crispy and done. Make sure they don't burn. Let them cool to room temperature before serving.
