Ingredients
- 1 cup rava / semolina / sooji
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1 tsp mustard / rai
- ½ tsp urad dal
- few curry leaves
- 3 tbsp peanuts
- ½ onion (finely chopped)
- 1 inch ginger (finely chopped)
- 2 green chilli (finely chopped)
- 2 to mato (finely chopped)
- ¼ tsp turmeric / haldi
- 2 tbsp peas / matar
- 2 beans (finely chopped)
- ¾ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp sugar
- 3 cup water
- 1 tbsp ghee / clarified butter
Method
- firstly, in a large kadai heat 2 tbsp oil and splutter 1 tsp mustard, ½ tsp urad dal and few curry leaves.
- also roast 3 tbsp peanuts till they turn crunchy.
- now add ½ onion, 1 inch ginger, 2 green chilli and saute well.
- furthermore add 2 tomato and saute till they turn soft and mushy.
- now add vegetables like 2 tbsp peas and 2 beans. saute till the vegetables get cooked well completely.
- add in ¼ tsp turmeric, ¾ tsp salt and ¼ tsp sugar. saute on low flame for a minute.
- pour 3 cup water and add 1 tbsp ghee.
- get to vigorous boil and mix well.
- keeping the flame on low start adding roasted rava slowly, stirring continuously in another hand.
- cover and simmer on low flame for 3-5 minutes or till tomato upma is cooked well.
- finally, serve tomato rava upma / uppittu with coconut chutney, rava kesari or plain.
