  • 1/2 tsp Kasuri Methi, crushed

Steps

  1. Heat the ghee in a large kadai and fry 9 paneer cubes in it.
  2. Continue cooking over low to medium heat, stirring from time to time, and take care not to break the paneer.
  3. Put the fried paneer aside.
  4. In the same ghee, sauté 1 teaspoon cumin seeds, 1 bay leaf and a 1/2 inch cinnamon stick until fragrant.
  5. Put in 1 finely chopped onion and sauté thoroughly.
  6. Put in 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste, then fry thoroughly.
  7. Add 1 cup tomato pulp, prepared by blending 2 large tomatoes.
  8. Keep frying until the tomatoes are mushy and oil starts to separate.
  9. Put in ½ tsp turmeric, 1 tsp red chilli powder, ½ tsp coriander powder, ¼ tsp cumin powder and salt to taste.
  10. Keep the spices frying over low heat until thoroughly cooked.
  11. Pour in ½ cup water together with ½ cup beaten curd.

  15. Cover and simmer for another 2-3 minutes, or until the paneer has absorbed the spices.
