Ingredients

for momos dough:

  • 2 cups maida / plain flour / refined flour / all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp salt (or to taste)
  • 2 tsp olive oil
  • ½ cup water (or as required)

for momos stuffing:

  • 2 tsp olive oil
  • 1 onion (finely chopped)
  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 2 cups cabbage (shredded)
  • 1 carrot (grated)
  • 1 cup paneer / cottage cheese (crumbled)
  • ¼ tsp salt (or to taste)
  • 1 tbsp vinegar
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • ½ tbsp chilli sauce

for soup / jhol:

  • ¼ cup sesame seeds / til
  • 1 tbsp cumin / jeera
  • 2 tsp oil
  • 3 dried kashmiri red chilli
  • 1 clove garlic (chopped)
  • 1 cup tomato (chopped)
  • handful of coriander leaves
  • 1 inch ginger (roughly chopped)
  • ½ tsp turmeric / haldi
  • ½ tsp salt (or to taste)
  • 2 cup water (or as required)
  • ½ tsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice

Method

  1. firstly, steam momos by preparing dough and stuffing.
  2. further prepare soup / jhol by dry roasting sesame seeds and cumin till it turns golden.
  3. further add oil and roast dried kashmiri red chilli, garlic.
  4. add chopped tomato, coriander leaves, ginger, turmeric and salt.
  5. blend to smooth paste adding water as required.
  6. transfer the prepared masala paste to a large kadai.
  7. add in water and sugar.
  8. mix well and boil for 5 minutes.
  9. turn off the flame add add lemon juice.
  10. now place the steamed momos in a plate and pour prepared soup / jhol.
  11. finally, garnish with coriander leaves and serve paneer momos soup / jhol momo hot.
