Ingredients
- 2 cups almonds
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 2.5 teaspoons oil (I used canola oil)
- 2.5 tablespoons water
- pinch cardamom powder
Method
- Measure 2 cups of whole almonds and place them on a baking sheet in a single layer.
- Place the baking sheet in an cold oven and then switch it on and set the temperature to 350 F degrees.
- Roast the almonds in the oven, stirring them twice in between till they are fragrant and roasted. This will take around 12-15 minutes.
- While the almonds are in the oven, combined sugar and salt in a bowl. Set aside.
- Meanwhile in a wide pan combine honey, cardamom powder, oil and water and bring it to boil on medium heat.
- Take out the almonds from the oven and stir them into the boiling mixture.
- Cook till all the liquid is absorbed by the almonds, this takes around 5 minutes.
- Remove the almonds from stove top and transfer them into a bowl.
- Pour the sugar-salt mixture over the almonds, stir to coat all almonds.
- Transfer the almonds to a parchment paper and let them dry completely.
- Store in an airtight container.
