Ingredients

  • 2 cup makhana
  • 1/2 cup almonds
  • 1/4 cup cashew nuts
  • 1/4 cup walnut
  • 1/4 cup dry coconut 🥥 grated flakes
  • 1/2 cup jaggery (gud)
  • 2-1/2 tbsp ghee
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 1 tsp sliced pistachio
  • 1 tsp sliced almonds
  • 1/2 tsp cardamom powder
  • 1 tbsp dry rose 🌹 petals
  • Pinch saffron (optional)

Steps

  1. Roast the makhana in a pan with 1 tablespoon of ghee until they turn crisp, then take them out onto a plate.
  2. In the same pan, use 1/2 tablespoon of ghee to roast the almonds, cashews and walnuts for approximately 5-6 minutes, until fragrant, without burning them. Put them on a plate to cool.
  3. Combine all the roasted ingredients and pulse them in a mixer-grinder. The mixture must not become a fine powder.
  4. Put the ground mixture on a plate, then use a spoon to mix in the coconut, almonds, pistachios, cardamom powder, saffron and rose petals.
  5. Put 1 tbsp ghee, jaggery and 1 tablespoon of water into the pan. Melt them well without making chasni; bubbles will be visible. Make a hole in the dry mixture and pour the liquid jaggery into it.
  6. Use a spoon to combine everything while it is hot. After a few seconds, mix it by hand and shape it into ladoos.
  7. Wait for the ladoos to become completely cool before putting them into an airtight container for storage.
