Ingredients

  • 2 medium apples
  • 2 large banana
  • 1 cup green grapes
  • 1/2 teaspoon chaat masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon kala namak (use sendha namak if making for fast)
  • 1/4 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon sugar (optional)
  • black pepper (to taste, optional)
  • 1 large lemon or lime (juice of)
  • 5-6 mint leaves (chopped, optional + more to garnish)
  • 1 medium potato (boiled, cut into cubes and fried, optional)

Method

  1. Chop all the fruits and place in a bowl. I used around 3 to 4 cups of cut/diced fruits here and used apples, banana and grapes. You may use other fruits of choice like pear, mangoes, pomegranate. All fruits chopped in a bowl. also add chopped mint leaves.
  2. Meanwhile if adding fried potatoes to your chaat, boil the potatoes and then cut into cubes. Heat 1-2 teaspoons of oil in a pan on medium heat. Add cubed potatoes to the pan once the oil is hot and then cook them until they turn golden brown in color. Drain on a paper towel.
  3. Meanwhile in a small bowl stir together chaat masala, cumin powder, kala namak (rock salt) and sugar. You may also use black pepper. You sendha namak in place of kala namak is making this for Navratri.
  4. Add the spices to the bowl of fruits. Also add in the fried potatoes (if using) and chopped mint leaves.
  5. Squeeze fresh lime juice and stir. Let the flavor mix in for few minutes.
  6. Garnish the fruit chaat with mint leaves and serve.
