This is a very simple stir fry recipe prepared with broccoli in Indian style.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups broccoli (cut into small florets)
  • 1 small onion (finely chopped)
  • 2 green chilies (finely chopped)
  • 2 tablespoons shredded coconut ((fresh/frozen))
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon jeera (cumin) seeds
  • 2 sprig curry leaves
  • a pinch hing (asafoetida)
  • salt (as per taste)
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil

Method

  1. Firstly, heat oil in a pan, temper with mustard seeds, cumin seeds, and let it splutter for a few seconds.
  2. Next, add the green chilies, hing, curry leaves, and saute for another 30 seconds.
  3. After a few seconds, add the chopped onion and saute till the onions are translucent and light brown. Takes appx 2 minutes.
  4. Then add the broccoli, salt, and stir-fry on medium-low flame until soft and tender.
  5. Turn off the gas and sprinkle fresh shredded coconut and combine well.
  6. Serve the Indian-style Broccoli stir fry along with rice and rasam.
