Bread Pizza is a quick and easy stovetop pizza made with bread slices, pizza sauce, vegetables and mozzarella cheese. It is cooked on a skillet, tawa or frying pan until the bread is crisp and the cheese melts. This 20-minute recipe makes a delicious breakfast, snack or light meal.

Ingredients

  • 6 bread slices (- large or sandwich bread slices - whole wheat, white, multigrain or brown bread)
  • olive oil (or butter as required)
  • Pizza Sauce (- as needed)
  • 1 medium-sized onion (- cut in small cubes)
  • 1 medium-sized capsicum (- cut in small cubes)
  • 1 medium-sized tomato (- cut in small cubes, optional)
  • 5 to 6 olives (- sliced, optional)
  • dried oregano (- as required)
  • dried basil (- as required)
  • crushed black pepper (or black pepper powder, as required - optional)
  • 1 to 1¼ cups grated mozzarella cheese (or pizza cheese - add as required)
  • red chilli flakes (as required, optional)

Method

Toasting Bread

  1. Chop all the veggies and keep it ready before you start preparing the bread pizza.
  2. Heat a heavy tawa, a flat skillet or pan or griddle. Spread about ½ to 1 teaspoon olive oil on it. Keep the heat to its lowest.You can even use butter instead of olive oil.
  3. Place a large bread slice on it. You can keep 1 to 2 bread slices at a time depending on the size of the bread and the size of the griddle or tawa or pan.
  4. Lightly toast the bread from the base and then flip it.

Making Bread Pizza

  1. Now quickly spread some pizza sauce on the lightly toasted side.
  2. Top with small onion cubes.
  3. Then place capsicum cubes. Keep the capsicum cubes small. While adding the topping keep the heat to its lowest.
  4. Now top with small tomato cubes. Also add some sliced olives. Both tomatoes and olives are optional and you can skip them.
  5. Sprinkle dried herbs like oregano, basil. Also add some crushed black pepper or black pepper powder. Addition of black pepper is optional.
  6. While adding the toppings, you can also switch off the flame or turn off the heat if you prefer.
  7. Now top with grated mozzarella cheese or pizza cheese.
  8. Keep the heat to its lowest. Place a lid on the bread pizza.
  9. Cook until the cheese melts and the bread is toasted.
  10. Remove with a spatula and place it on a serving plate. Sprinkle some red chili flakes or dried oregano if you want.
  11. Serve Bread Pizza hot as is or accompanied with tomato ketchup or pizza sauce.
  12. Repeat making the bread pizza with the remaining bread slices.
