Ingredients

for sandwich masala:

  • 2 tbsp cumin
  • 2 tbsp fennel / saunf
  • 2 tsp pepper
  • 2 inch cinnamon
  • 2 pods cardamom
  • 1 tsp chaat masala
  • 1 tsp aamchur
  • ½ tsp salt

for bombay sandwich:

  • 3 slice bread (white or brown)
  • butter
  • green chutney
  • 1 potato (boiled & sliced)
  • 1 tomato (sliced)
  • 1 cucumber (sliced)
  • 1 beetroot (boiled & sliced)
  • onion (chopped)
  • tomato sauce (for garnishing)

for grilled bombay sandwich:

  • 3 slice bread (white or brown)
  • butter
  • green chutney
  • 1 potato (boiled & sliced)
  • 1 tomato (sliced)
  • 1 cucumber (sliced)
  • 2 slice cheese
  • 1 beetroot (boiled & sliced)
  • onion (chopped)

Method

sandwich masala preparation:

  1. firstly, in a pan take 2 tbsp cumin, 2 tbsp fennel, 2 tsp pepper, 2 inch cinnamon, 2 pods cardamom.
  2. roast on low flame until the spices turn aromatic.
  3. cool completely and transfer to the mixi.
  4. add 1 tsp chaat masala, 1 tsp aamchur and ½ tsp salt.
  5. blend to a fine powder and sandwich masala is ready. keep aside.

bombay sandwich preparation:

  1. firstly, take 3 slice bread, and trim the sides.
  2. spread butter on 2 bread slice and green chutney on another.
  3. on the green chutney slice, place boiled potato slices and sprinkle sandwich masala.
  4. also, place tomato and cucumber slices.
  5. further, sprinkle a generous amount of sandwich masala.
  6. cover with buttered bread slice and spread green chutney on top.
  7. now top with beetroot slice and chopped onion. also, sprinkle a generous amount of sandwich masala.
  8. insert 4 toothpick leaving equal spaces and cut into pieces. toothpick helps to hold layers together.
  9. finally, garnish with tomato sauce and enjoy bombay sandwich.

grilled bombay sandwich:

  1. firstly, take 3 slice bread, and spread butter on 2 bread slice and green chutney on another.
  2. on the green chutney slice, place boiled potato slices and sprinkle sandwich masala.
  3. also, place tomato and cucumber slices.
  4. further, sprinkle a generous amount of sandwich masala.
  5. place a cheese slice and cover with buttered bread slice and spread green chutney on top.
  6. now top with beetroot slice, chopped onion and a cheese slice. also, sprinkle a generous amount of sandwich masala.
  7. cover with bread slice and spread a generous amount of butter.
  8. grill to golden brown sandwich and cut into 4 pieces.
  9. finally, enjoy grilled bombay sandwich with tomato sauce
