Soft and gooey bars made with oats and apple

Ingredients

  • 2 cups oats (old fashioned)
  • 2 cups apple (chopped into small pieces)
  • ½ cup whole wheat flour
  • ¼ cup oil [any oil like canola (vegetable])
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp cinnamon powder
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 4 tsp sprinkles
  • 2 tsp milk

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F degrees. Remove the skin of the apples, chop them into small pieces and set aside.
  2. Roast the oats in the oven at 350 F for 2-3 minutes. Set aside.
  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together vanilla, oil and brown sugar until combined.
  4. Stir in the oats and whisk till it mixes well with the sugar and oil.
  5. Add in the whole wheat flour and mix.
  6. Stir in the cinnamon and mix.
  7. Fold in the apples slowly.
  8. Now add in the honey and mix using a spatula. Also add the milk
  9. Lastly, fold in the sprinklers.
  10. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and pour the mixture on it. Press the mixture tightly using a spoon or spatula.
  11. Bake at 350 F degrees for 25-30 minutes.
  12. Allow it too cool. Once it has cooled down, transfer the tray to the fridge for 2 hours.
  13. Cut into bars using a pizza cutter once completely set.
