Refreshing Indian summer drink made with raw green mangoes!

Ingredients

  • 350 grams raw green mangoes (around 6 small)
  • 4 cups water (divided)
  • 3/4 cup granulated white sugar
  • 1.5 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper (or as needed)
  • 1 teaspoon black salt
  • 25-30 mint leaves

Method

  1. Peel the raw mangoes and then cut them into small pieces.
  2. Transfer the cut pieces to a pan and add 1 cup water to it. Cook on medium heat till the mangoes pieces are soft, around 10 minutes.
  3. Remove pan from heat and transfer the softened mango (along with the water in which it was cooked) to a blender. Let it cool down a little.
  4. Add 3 cups cold water, mint leaves and sugar. Blend to a smooth paste.
  5. Strain the liquid into another bowl, add cumin powder, black salt and black pepper. Mix till everything is well combined.
  6. Transfer aam panna to a glass bottle and keep refrigerated.
  7. To serve, fill 2/3rd to 3/4th of a glass with aam panna mixture, fill remaining with cold water and serve chilled with fresh mint leaves.
