Sweet and Spicy Orange Chicken
Ingredients
- 450 gms Boneless Chicken Breast Pieces
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 1/2 tsp White Pepper Powder
- 1 Egg
- 1/3 cup Flour
- 1/3 cup Corn Flour
- Salt to Taste
- 2 tbsp Sesame Oil
- 4 tbsp Green Onion Whites
- 1 tbsp Grated Ginger
- 1/2 tbsp Minced Garlic
- 1 cup Freshly Squeezed Orange Juice (240 ml)
- 2 tbsp Soy Sauce
- 2 tbsp Vinegar
- 1 tbsp Brown Sugar
- 1 tbsp Chilli Flakes
- 1 tbsp Corn Flour
- 4 tbsp Water
- 1 tbsp White Sesame Seeds
- 3 tbsp Green Onion Greens
Steps
- To Marinate the Chicken: • Clean and cut chicken into bite-sized pieces. • In a bowl, mix chicken with white pepper, salt, and whisked egg. Let it marinate for 30 minutes.
- To Prepare the Dry Mixture: • Combine flour, corn flour, and salt in a mixing bowl.
- Coat and Air-fry the Chicken: • Coat each chicken piece with the dry mixture. • Arrange on a greased air fryer rack. Air-fry at 230°C for 15-18 minutes or until golden and tender. (Alternatively, deep or pan-fry.)
- To Make the Orange Sauce: • Heat sesame oil in a pan. Sauté green onion whites, ginger, and garlic until fragrant. • Add orange juice, soy sauce, vinegar, brown sugar, and chili flakes. Bring to a boil and reduce to a thick sauce. • Mix corn flour and water into a slurry. Add to the sauce and cook on low until thickened.
- Combine Chicken and Sauce: • Toss the cooked chicken in the sauce until well coated. Cook for 2 minutes.
- To Garnish and Serve: • Garnish with sesame seeds and green onion greens. • Serve immediately and enjoy! Tip: For a vibrant orange color, reduce the quantity of dark soy sauce. The taste will remain unchanged!
