Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp. kosher salt (optional)
  • Lime wedge (for serving; optional)
  • 3 oz. blanco tequila
  • 3 oz. fresh lime juice (from 3–4 limes)
  • 2½ oz. orange liqueur (such as Cointreau)
  • 1½ tsp. granulated sugar

Steps

  1. First, rim the glasses, if desired. Place 1 Tbsp. kosher salt on a small plate. Rub rims of 2 old-fashioned glasses with lime wedge, then dip in salt. Chill glasses.
  2. Blend 3 oz. blanco tequila, 3 oz. fresh lime juice (from 3–4 limes), 2½ oz. orange liqueur, and 1½ tsp. granulated sugar in a blender on medium-low until sugar dissolves, about 20 seconds. Add 2½ cups ice and blend until thick and smooth, 30–45 seconds more, depending on the strength of your blender. Pour into prepared glasses.
