Coconut peanut Modak
Ingredients
- 1 piece of grated fresh coconut
- 1 large bowl of sugar
- 200 grams of crushed peanuts
- 2 teaspoons of ghee (clarified butter)
- as needed Cardamom
- as needed Water
- as needed dry fruits
Steps
- Roast the peanuts, then take off their skins. Remove the outer shell from a green coconut and grate its white flesh. Sauté the grated fresh coconut thoroughly in a little ghee.
- Put the measured sugar into a pot and add only enough water to cover it. Set the pot on the stove to make the syrup; when it begins to boil, add cardamom powder.
- Continue cooking to approximately a one-thread syrup. Mix the ground peanuts and sautéed grated coconut thoroughly into it.
- Transfer the mixture to a plate once it is very thick. Let it cool until it can be shaped, then form modaks in whatever shape you prefer and decorate with your choice of dry fruits.
- The coconut and peanut modaks/laddus are now ready.
