Cheesy Pasta Sticks
Ingredients
- 80 grams penne pasta
- 1 tsp crushed garlic
- As required some diced capsicum
- As required some diced onions
- As required some diced bell pepper
- As required some chopped green/black olives
- As required some chilli flakes
- As per taste, some oregano herbs
- As required some black pepper powder
- Salt, as per your taste
- 1 tsp pizza/pasta sauce
- 1 tsp vinegar
- 1 tsp tomato ketchup
- As required, mozzarella cheese
- As required, oil
Steps
- Bring enough water to a boil. Add some salt and a tsp of oil, mix, then add the pasta and mix again. Boil until 90 percent done and strain in a strainer. Pour a glass of cold water over the pasta, then sprinkle a tsp of oil and coat well to keep the pieces from sticking together.
- Heat the pan, add a tbsp of oil, then put in the crushed garlic. Fry on a low flame until the garlic's raw smell has gone.
- Add the boiled pasta and coat it well with the fried garlic. Mix in pepper powder, chilli flakes and oregano herbs thoroughly.
- Add the tomato ketchup, vinegar and pizza/pasta sauce and mix thoroughly again, then let it cool a little.
- Prick each pasta piece with a skewer and gently push it down, working one piece at a time. Do not put more than 15 pasta pieces on a single skewer. Leave 1 inch free at both sides of the stick so it can be held properly and looks good. Repeat with the remaining pasta.
- Brush tomato ketchup or pasta sauce over the pasta, then sprinkle mozzarella cheese as desired. Add diced capsicum, onion, bell pepper and chopped olives, followed by a sprinkling of chilli flakes and oregano herbs.
- Microwave for about a min and serve hot with the melting cheese. As an alternative after assembly and before melting the cheese, put the sticks in a frying pan, cover with a lid and leave until the cheese melts completely, then serve as they are. Vegetables of your choice may be used.
