Ingredients

  • 1 cup black Sesame Seeds
  • 1/4 cup cashews (finely chopped)
  • 1 cup chopped jaggery (desi gur)
  • 1 tsp ghee

Steps

  1. Dry roast black sesame seeds & cashew pieces very well till crispy, while stirring all the time. Remove in a plate to cool.
  2. Take ghee in a pan, add chopped jaggery & keep stirring till it melts & becomes light in colour.
  3. Take a bowl of water.Put a drop of melted jaggery in it. Now take that Jaggery piece in between your fingers, if it breaks, the chasni (syrup) is ready. If not cook it for 1 minute more & again take the consistency test.
  4. Once the chasni (syrup) is ready, switch off the flame. Add sesame seeds & cashews & mix very well.
  5. Take butter paper on a flat surface. Take a small portion of the mixture on it. Cover it with another piece of butter paper. Roll to desired size.Remove the round chikki on a greased plate. Shape all the chikki roundels the same way. I have also shaped two balls from it.
  6. Cool & store in an airtight container. Enjoy chikki roundels while flying kites on the terrace.
