Ingredients

  • 1 piece of grated fresh coconut
  • 1 large bowl of sugar
  • 200 grams of crushed peanuts
  • 2 teaspoons of ghee (clarified butter)
  • as needed Cardamom
  • as needed Water
  • as needed dry fruits

Steps

  1. Roast the peanuts, then take off their skins. Remove the outer shell from a green coconut and grate its white flesh. Sauté the grated fresh coconut thoroughly in a little ghee.
  2. Put the measured sugar into a pot and add only enough water to cover it. Set the pot on the stove to make the syrup; when it begins to boil, add cardamom powder.
  3. Continue cooking to approximately a one-thread syrup. Mix the ground peanuts and sautéed grated coconut thoroughly into it.
  4. Transfer the mixture to a plate once it is very thick. Let it cool until it can be shaped, then form modaks in whatever shape you prefer and decorate with your choice of dry fruits.
  5. The coconut and peanut modaks/laddus are now ready.
