Poha Vada
Ingredients
- 1 cup brown poha (beaten rice)
- 2 raw bananas, boiled, peeled & mashed
- 1/2 cup chopped mixed veggies (beans, carrots, capsicums & green peas)
- 2 tbsp. roasted peanuts, coarsely ground
- 2 tbsp. roasted & powdered chana dal (Bengal gram)
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 tsp. ginger, grated
- 2 green chilies, chopped
- handful coriander leaves, chopped
- 1/2 tsp. roasted cumin powder
- 1/2 tsp. chaat masala
- salt to taste
- 1 egg, beaten
- oil to deep fry
Steps
- Wash the poha for a few seconds, then leave aside for 10 minutes to soften. Mix it with all the other ingredients except egg and oil, knead into a dough and divide into equal portions.
- Turn every portion into a round, flat patty and continue until the mixture is used up. Give the patties a couple of minutes in the refrigerator.
- After heating oil in a pan, dip the patties one by one into the egg mixture and deep-fry a few at a time over a medium flame. When crisp and golden brown, drain them on a kitchen towel.
- Serve hot for tea-time snacking, or enjoy them as a snack.
