Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cup urad dal(rostered)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp cardamom powder
  • 1/4 cup ghee / clarified butter
  • 2 tbsp raisins / kishmish

Steps

  1. Put 1½ cup urad dal in a pan and roast on a low flame until aromatic. Continue roasting for 10 minutes, or until golden brown. Let it cool completely before transferring to a mixi.
  2. Make a fine powder by blending without any water. Sieve the flour to avoid lumps. In a small mixi, blend ½ cup sugar to a fine powder.
  3. Mix the powdered sugar into the same urad-dal powder, add 1 tsp cardamom powder, and combine everything well. Put ¼ cup ghee in a saucepan, add 2 tbsp raisins, and fry on a low flame until the raisins puff up.
  4. Mix the fried raisins and their ghee into the same urad-dal flour mixture to make it moist. If dry, add a tbsp more melted ghee. If watery, leave it to rest for 10 minutes so that it absorbs and thickens.
  5. With ghee-greased hands, form ball-sized ladoos. Keep the urad-dal ladoos in an airtight container to enjoy for 2 weeks.
  6. Enjoy the ladoos.
