How To Boil Potatoes in Instant Pot
Ingredients
- 3 extra large Russet Potatoes
- 1 cup Water
Steps
Instant Pot Method:
- Rinse and clean the potatoes under running water. A vegetable scrub brush may be used to remove dirt.
- Pour the water into the Instant Pot insert, set in the trivet and arrange the whole or diced potatoes on it. The described batch used extra-large Russet potatoes weighing 9 oz each.
- Fasten the lid securely and set the vent to "SEALING". Choose PRESSURE COOK/MANUAL (High Pressure), with the cooking time depending on potato size: diced potatoes (1 inch), high pressure for 3 minutes; small/baby potatoes (1-1.5 inches), high pressure for 5 minutes; medium potatoes (2-2.5 inches), high pressure for 6 minutes; large potatoes (4-5.5 inches), high pressure for 10-12 minutes; extra-large potatoes (6-8 inches), high pressure for 12-14 minutes.
- When the Instant Pot beeps, wait for Natural Pressure Release before opening the lid. Test doneness with a knife or fork inserted into the potatoes' center.
- Peel for immediate use, or leave the skins on and refrigerate for later. The stated timings give fully cooked, boiled potatoes; for a softer, mushier result, add two more minutes of pressure cooking.
