Frosé

Ingredients

  • 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons water
  • 5 large fresh strawberries (about 7 1/2 ounces), hulled
  • 1 (750-milliliter) bottle Space Age rosé
  • 0.25 cup plus 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice (from 2 lemons)
  • 0.25 cup plus 2 tablespoons (3 ounces) tequila, vodka, or gin
  • Aperol (optional)

Steps

  1. In a small saucepan, bring sugar and 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons water to a boil; simmer until the sugar is dissolved, about 3 minutes. Remove from heat, and let cool completely.
  2. Process strawberries and 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons simple syrup in a blender until smooth, about 1 minute. Pour syrup through a fine wire-mesh strainer into a measuring cup; discard solids.
  3. Combine rosé, lemon juice, tequila and 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons strawberry simple syrup in a large freezer-safe container; stir to combine. Cover and freeze until almost solid (mixture won't freeze completely because of the alcohol), at least 6 hours or up to 10 hours, stirring mixture once every hour. Reserve remaining strawberry simple syrup for another use.
  4. Remove from freezer. Divide frosé evenly among 6 chilled glasses. Top glasses with Aperol for a little extra fun, if desired, and serve.
